The variant Weakened Without Immediate Preparation is allowed as well, and halves the cost normally (round toward zero, to the nearest 5%). For convenience, the values of all four versions are presented below:
Required |
Without Preparation |
Preparation Required |
w/o Immediate Preparation |

Unlike Takes Extra Time, this limitation is expressly permitted for abilities which cannot be used in combat and/or take longer than a few seconds to activate; just add the preparation time and the activation time together. If the ability normally requires Ready maneuvers, change them to Concentrate maneuvers.
Note that there is a potential for abuse when applying low levels of Immediate Preparation Required to an advantage which takes more than a few seconds to activate. To be fair, calculate which limitation would give the lesser point break, Immediate Preparation Required or Takes Extra Time, and use that. (As well, when adding enough Takes Extra Time to raise an advantage's activation time to a minute or more, you should again use the lesser of the two point breaks.)
